Heyward House Museum & Welcome Center

Begin your visit here at The Heyward House, the town’s official Welcome Center. Tour the House Museum, built by enslaved West Africans in 1841; find maps and brochures for area businesses, and get a taste of Bluffton’s culture and history.

Dubois Park

Newly revamped park in the heart of the Historic District. Includes playground, benches, swings, picnic area, public restrooms and public Wi-Fi.

Wright Family Park

As Calhoun Street empties into the May River, you’ll find Bluffton’s newest sanctuary neighboring the Church of the Cross. Sit and read a book overlooking the river, traverse the Calhoun Street dock to get up close and personal with our marine wildlife.

See the Squire Pope Carriage House, a remnant of the pre-Civil War homestead and the family’s only building to survive the 1863 Burning of Bluffton.

Church of the Cross

The historic church was built in 1857 and added to the National Register in 1975. It is currently in the Anglican Diocese of South Carolina.

Formal worship in the Bluffton area traces its roots to the establishment in 1767 of St. Luke’s Parish, where a church was built near Pritchardville in 1787. By 1842, a chapel was built near the current location of The Church of the Cross.

Oyster Factory Park

The perfect spot for family picnics, fishing, boating and learning about our town’s fishing history. Bordering the May River, you’ll find fire pits and grills for family and friends’ events, plus a boat ramp with a dock for fishing. While there, take a tour of the Garvin-Garvey Freedman’s Cottage. Pritchard Pocket Park

Small park with benches on the May River which makes it the perfect place to take a quiet walk. Open sunrise to sunset, enjoy time walking the trails shaded by the angel oak trees. Three park benches dedicated to 'the memory of our young who left us too soon,' overlook stunning and peaceful views of May River.
